Brands as Online Publishers: 5 Key Takeaways

#OMNLondon hosted yet another awesome event last night – HMS President was the stage, “Brands as Online Publishers” the topic. With free bar courtesy of Adobe UK, huge attendance of 400+ marketing folks and some truly festive lights decorating the room, the atmosphere resembled a f*ing wedding (in the words of Nick Cohen, one of the main speakers). Although the best part was of course meeting new people and sharing stories, there were some valuable points to take away from the presentations as well.

5 Key takeaways:

  1. All brands are now content publishers
  2. Brands are turning into media companies (is RedBull a product or media company?)
  3. People care about their passions – it’s essential to package content around these passions
  4. Brands must decide whether they want to create or curate content
  5. Content should be liquid (shared) + linked (to strategy)

All in all, a great event, and I’m looking forward to the future MeetUps by #OMNLondon :) If you are in London, come along!
